Welcome!

Welcome to the blog for the Indianapolis branch of Safe Families for Children!  We here want to share more about our organization, keep people updated and share the news about Safe Families.

Safe Families for Children expands the community safety net by providing parents in need with mentoring relationships and tangible support in times of crisis. Safe Families for Children believes children will be safe and well-cared for if families in crisis have a network of support.

Volunteer families, prompted, solely by compassion, mentor at risk families and host families open their homes to children allowing parents to work out their problems without having to worry about losing parental custody. The process of becoming a Safe Family volunteer varies depending on your level of involvement. For those opening their home to a child the process would include an application, a home visit, ongoing training, and a background check and fingerprinting. In total, you can expect the process to take about 2 months before you would be contacted and a child could be placed in your care.

Safe Family Churches provide a vital role in our community of caregivers offering support and resources to volunteer families. The process of launching a Safe Family ministry in your church is simple and will add a sense of richness and relevance to your community of faith as you reach out with kindness for those who need it most.
